What Are Coils for Vapes Used For?

Vape coils are the heating element within the vape device that allows the e-liquid mixture to be heated and turned into the vapour you then inhale.

The coil consists of a piece of wire wrapped around wicking material like cotton, the e-liquid is heated by the wire and turned into vapour, which is inhaled. Some coils are made with stainless steel wire, but they can also be made with titanium, nichrome and ceramic to name just a few.

How Do I Know When My Coil Needs Replacing?

You will know when it’s time to replace your coil when your vape begins to elicit a burnt taste, or the device begins to emit less vapour. You may also hear a gurgling sound. Once you fit a new coil, apply a few drops of e-liquid before using again, and the burnt flavour should disappear.

What’s the Difference Between High and Low Resistance Coils?

The coil resistance that you choose for your vape will impact your vaping experience. Cloud chasers should opt for a low resistance vape, as there is a lower heat generation associated with low resistance coils, higher vapour production and denser clouds.

Additionally, low resistance coils provide a stronger throat hit, and more intense flavour than their high resistance counterparts.
